When I was young, we did not have enough money for food or to pay the mortgage. I helped out by becoming one of the top kids in my state in signing up new newspaper subscriptions. But I always wanted to make a difference in the world. As I grew up, I discovered my passion, the one that enabled me to do so: to build great businesses.Since then, I've built and led high-growth companies in four different industries: healthcare, finance, real estate and technology services. The latter one I led through startup, high growth, profitability and global operations; it had an initial public offering. Finally, I advised the Fortune 500 on legal and strategy matters as a lawyer with a major U.S. firm.To build great businesses, the most important thing I do is lead people: identify, recruit and engage first-rate individuals; build world-class teams; challenge them to tackle tough problems; inspire them to take risks; coach and mentor them and celebrate their accomplishments. Together, we've built extraordinary companies.I have expertise in researching markets / models / customers / competitors, and from that, developing strategy and translating that into business success: managing operations – finance, administration, legal, IT, M&A, HR, sales and marketing. I'm an expert at analyzing, developing and refining processes that result in high productivity, efficiency and compliance.I have a solid finance background with a focus on profitability, cash flow and asset and investment management. Plus, with my many years of legal experience, I've sat on and advised both for-profit and non-profit boards. I'm still on my journey.
