- Determined present and future capacity needs for all DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) fiber optic networks, defining more than $50 million of new network infrastructure spend- Invented new capacity metric for capacity planning, derived from network topology, routing protocols, required redundancy and traffic levels throughout the network. This allows network managers to see trends and current and future capacity issues throughout all data centers - Created long-term business growth projections using historic trends, business strategies and plans, and various economic scenarios to determine future server capacity needs for all Amazon business units. Provides detailed time-series analysis and projections, technology strategies, and architecture, engineering and implementation services focused on delivering optimal solutions within a client's technology, infrastructure and financial constraints. Engagements include:- Morgan Stanley – Developed growth projections for data centers in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions. Performed system engineering and managed the design of communications systems involved in transportation systems. This included the design of Public Address, CCTV, telephone, fire and life safety, wireless and fiber optic network systems. Engagements included:- Managed preliminary engineering of $20 million of communications equipment, construction and installation for the No. 7 Line Extension of the New York City Transit Authority (NYC subway system), a $2 billion project- Developed with Baltimore Metropolitan Transit Authority the functional specifications for a Next Vehicle Arrival Sign system, a $5 million project. Wrote complete specifications for the NVA Sign system for use in RFP

Provided consulting services to telecom carriers in optimizing network architectures and developing procedures for operating networks. Developed strategies for leading network equipment vendors to reduce development time required to certify new products for carrier’s acceptance criteria. Engagements included:- Designed $10 million fiber optic network architecture for NYSERNet, a consortium of educational and medical facilities in the State of New York. This network will save NYSERNet over $2 million a year in outside communications costs.- Developed business strategies and network architectures for gigabit Ethernet service offering for Con Edison Communications- Produced requirements and RFP for $5 million fiber optic network hub for NYSERNet, including power and fire suppression systems- Analyzed DWDM (dense wave division multiplexing) systems as a tool in developing market analyses for clients

Conducted certification tests of telecom equipment for network compatibility, reliability and determined whether equipment met AT&T network standards- Directed testing and initial deployment of AT&T’s first Private Line, transcontinental ATM Network. This service’s earnings are currently over $100 million a year.- Led network design certification and worked with business and technical teams in Argentina to deploy Latin America’s first continent-wide fiber optic network, which currently provides over $165 million per year in telecom business services.- Led AT&T’s network command center in upgrades of production networks - Led one of AT&T’s nationwide troubleshooting teams- Certified Cisco and Nortel DWDM systems for deployment in AT&T networks- Installed, certified and upgraded in both laboratory and field fiber optic hardware, SONET, ATM, DS1/3, OC3/12/48, LAN/WAN equipment- Managed lab test team and developed $20 million testing budgets

Conducted research dealing with thermonuclear power generation. Designed research and test equipment and supervised construction and installation. Conducted experiments and analyzed data. Developed architecture, algorithms and software to accomplish the analysis.- Modeled magnetic flux surfaces in the Texas Experimental Tokamak, a plasma containment device used in fusion reactor power development.- Designed experimental diagnostic equipment to measure plasma position and magnetic surfaces.- Designed and coded analysis applications for magnetic surface reconstruction and error analysis.

Tested multipath compensation algorithms used by Global Position Satellite (GPS) navigation and surveying systems. Analyzed radio propagation data to improve reliability of communications and predictability of radio transmissions.- Improved accuracy of GPS navigation fixes in a 3-dimension environment (for use by aircraft and spacecraft).- Developed seasonal maps of the southern polar ionosphere using signals from NAVSTAR navigation satellites received at McMurdo Sound, Antarctica.
