About Joseph M.
I am a Clinical Psychologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Veterans Health Administration. I also have an assistant professor appointment with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry. My training and theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a specialization in anger management.In my current role I work with individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) diagnoses in an extensive outpatient program with an associated residential SMI program. In this capacity many comorbid issues such as substance use, homelessness, and access to care are addressed from a recovery model of care. I am also a team lead for a newly developed outreach program to connect individuals who have recently been diagnosed with SMI to various supportive services in an effort to improve their long-term outcomes.
