As an Associate Professor at my undergraduate alma mater, I gained fulfillment by participating in that mission of generating knowledge, mentoring students to do the same, teaching others what we learned, and applying insights learned during professional and community service. Through participation in university leadership and service, I gained foundational experience in general education, program assessment, curriculum rejuvenation, and academic department leadership. Interested in factors predicting everyday life success, I research everyday problem-solving effectiveness, decision making biases, predictors of variation in emerging adulthood attitudes, social determinants of health and education, and preventive interventions for youth. I regularly participate in academic journal editorial processes and consult on research design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, survey design, program evaluation, and data analytics for complex, multivariate, hierarchical, and messy data. I contribute to initiatives that aim to make science more open, accessible, and replicable. I value giving back to the communities in which I live and work through boards, foundations, and charitable organizations. As past president of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club, I had the opportunity to graduate from the Rotary Leadership Institute. Currently, I serve on data and evaluation committees for multiple community impact organizations, tackling issues such as educational attainment disparities, poverty, and lack of integration among health care and education systems.In my current role as Managing Director of Data and Science at Children's Institute, I have the honor of partnering with directors to develop the institute's science agenda, embedded within a core value of the integration of research and practice. I lead the research, program evaluation, and data management activity and contribute to strategic planning for the organization's thought partnership and community engagement efforts. I value authentic community needs assessment and initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and access to education, healthcare, and well-being for all.
