I’ve worked as an eBook Technical Specialist since 2016. Since then I’ve converted over 600 books into eBook format. I’ve also retooled nearly a thousand eBooks (bringing older ebooks up to today’s ebook standards). I work regularly in programs such as Indesign, Photoshop, Sigil, Word, and Acrobat to accomplish my ebook responsibilities. I’m also accustomed to building scripts within Indesign, Word, and Sigil through Regex, Visual Studio Code, and VBA. Typical work involved in converting/updating ebooks include removing elements that cause issues in ebook format, prepping the document for ebook navigation, linking TOC’s and hyperlinks, linking indexes and notes, preparing the CSS styles to match the print book, prepping any images, designing and making special elements like sidebars and tables re-flowable, converting over to epub, removing non-validating code and adding code needed in ebook, enabling pop up notes, naming xhtml pages, adding a TOC for the visually impaired, adding page number navigation, making sure the epub document will validate for today’s ebook standards and be functional in any ebook platform. I’ve been described as a person who has a knack for technology and a quiet drive to learn as well as being punctual. In my spare time I enjoy listening to philosophy and apologetics speakers as well as reading their published works. I also enjoy the outdoors and activities such as biking, rollerblading, and hiking.
