Grew Local Union from a 250 pilot single carrier group to a 10 airline multi-carrier Union, adding Atlas/Polar, Cape Air, Kalitta, Horizon, Miami Air, Omni, Silver, Southern, and USA 3000 to ABX Air’s Local.Managed the Local’s multi-million-dollar annual budget, and stock/bond portfolio, implemented strict accounting controls, and as a plan fiduciary oversee $180 million for the Pilot 401K plan, and $400 million for the pilots defined benefit plan. Negotiated, multi-million-dollar Collective Bargaining Agreements, including ABX Air’s restructuring contract, which maintained competitive wages, and work rules, and allowed ABX Air to successfully continue as a DHL’s primary US airline. In this restructuring negotiated a $125 million package from DHL which provided ten months of severance pay for 500 furloughees and pension contributions that ensured our now frozen defined benefit plan remains in fully funded status. Additionally, negotiated the Atlas and Polar contract amalgamation and seniority integration, allowing Atlas/Polar to embark on its current multi-certificate growth strategy, as well as Silver’s contract that resulted in pay and work rule improvements while ensuring a successful emergence from bankruptcy.Maintained critical air cargo Industry intelligence on market risks, surface competition, regional growth, trade restrictions, aircraft conversion capabilities, lease rates, and ACMI. This information was critical in negotiating work rules and pay rates that were sustainable for the airlines, and sensible for our members.
