During my time with this AJ120 Company, I was appointed deliver a feasibility study for a community swimming pool and fitness studio at Mayfield School. As part of the Borough of Redbridge’s strategy to offer new facilities in the area, this project involved working heavily with numerous specialists, as well as adhering to Sport England’s strict code for affordable swimming pools.With the constrained site located within the school grounds, the design guidelines were challenged at every stage. In addition to this, the restrictive access to the site informed the orientation of the site. The end result was an inclusive design that met the brief and allowed client to offer a new community swimming pool in the area.

Initially employed to support the technical delivery of a £6m flagship building on Oxford Street, I soon progressed to the role of project runner of this scheme originally deigned by 'Future Systems' . As well as full technical delivery of the scheme, I worked closely with numerous façade specialists to assure the previously untested glazing concept system met British Standards – this involved working from the glazing specialist testing facility in Austria, where a full sized mock-up of the façade was tested to destruction.Following Oxford Street I had a primary involvement with a 9 storey mixed use new building, Cordy House in Shoreditch. Arcademy were originally appointed in 2009 and I was responsible for delivering the scheme on site since 2012.Between the above projects my role has consisted of running a variety of projects ranging in size and value from £100k for entrance revisions to one of David Adjaye’s early buildings, through to £7m for a new ancillary building for the New Wine Church. Beyond project specific tasks I was also involved in the management of resources in the office, as well as providing technical input for all Arcademy projects and mentoring the junior members of staff.

Working as part of a team I gained experience in numerous projects in the education and healthcare sectors. My role allowed me to gain exposure to a design driven studio where I could explore my skills in model making and developing presentation material.

As a school leaver, I successfully secured an apprenticeship with Aedas [formally Abbey Holford Rowe]. During my time with AHR I learned the tools of the trade, supporting a large team of technicians on a mixture of Retail, Leisure and PFI projects which included schools and hospitals.Although this was a technical apprenticeship, my time in the Shrewsbury office allowed me to form a solid foundation in the field. Based on my progress I was granted an internal transfer to the London office; the ‘Aedas Studio’, where I began studying part-time towards my Architect's qualification at Greenwich University.
