Manage and lead Amtrak's tax function and all related activities.

Provided actionable tax and financial advice to efficiently structure major transactions (e.g., acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, mergers, etc.), ongoing domestic and international operations, and the roll-out of various corporate initiatives. Partnered with corporate leaders to effectively implement such advice to achieve savings and risk reduction.Identified, evaluated, and executed on tax-advantaged investments and tax credit opportunities. Led multi-disciplinary teams to assess returns and risks, perform due diligence, marshal support from various internal constituencies, negotiate with outside parties, and present to senior management for approval, investments in affordable housing credits, solar credits, synfuel credits, clean coal credits, and corporate owned life insurance. Spearheaded initiatives resulting in the capture of historic tax credits, jobs credits, and research and development tax credits from operations. Once projects were approved, led implementation, ongoing operations, and made necessary business decisions. Provided technical research, risk assessment, and written position papers to tax audit, compliance and financial reporting teams.
