Working within the Sports Technology Institute Research Group to develop a high end running shoe for executive consumers.◾ Responsibilities included ◾- A comprehensive research review of running, biomechanics and related areas- Analysis of current technologies, designs and manufacturing processes- Dissertation of mechanical testing project and communication of final designs to employer◾Key achievements ◾- Designed an experimental protocol for midsole durability testing, improving upon the current ASTM 1976 mechanical testing standardI found a limitation in the ASTM shoe midsole testing standard which limited applicability of material test results. By creating a combined approach of 'real world' wear and tear with mechanical bench testing standard, I delivered an improved testing process for running shoe midsole performance within project deadlines and with novel results.I delivered a data-driven running shoe design blueprint driven by latest industry knowledge, literature and my quantitative research outcomes.

10 week summer internship at the Sports Technology Institute at Loughborough University. I was a technical researcher for an external project group to develop the next innovative high end running shoe. Research included: a thorough understanding of the human foot's anatomy and function, literature review of current knowledge of running shoes, trends in research, factors affecting comfort, performance and injury prevention, market research and prediction of future innovations in the running shoe industry. The project required me to think out of the box and approach the technical and market research from different angles to stimulate ideas for the next innovation in athletic footwear. I also planned and conducted focus groups to further my literature research with local running groups.

Homesense is an Off-Price retailer that relies on high volume sales and customer service. I was part of the first team of staff to open the Brighton store which was the first high street Homesense in the country. I was a fast learner on the job and gave full effort to improving the store and my ability as a store associate. I got involved with all aspects of the job from deliveries and processing to checkout manager and floor salesman. I always asked questions about merchandising and inventory and ended up partaking in some tasks usually undertaken by Team Leaders.
