Husbandry of zebrafish (Danio rerio) at all life stages.Managing a colony of 12000+ fish with over 100 unique genetic lines by verifying health and fertility of the breeding population, creating next generations, confirming correct expression of each generation, maintaining strict adherence to approved animal protocols by staff using fish for research, used cryo-preservation to save gametes of currently unused lines for future use. Creating new genetic lines using Tol2 and CRISPR-Cas9 for use in ongoing and future experiments. Train new hires on how to handle fish and set them up for breeding, as well as how the life support system functions. Perform annual sentinel health checks to confirm lack of pathogens on all independent life support systems. Write new and edit old SOPs to keep husbandry practices up-to-date with best practices in both the aquaculture industry and research animal field. Set up and trained staff on a new life support system that tripled colony maximum stocking capacity from 22000 fish to 77000 fish. Independently manage work tasks and daily schedule with minimal to no oversight. Inform head of the lab, primary veterinarian, and managers of external staff of any ongoing projects and problems that need to be addressed. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in life support systems and animal husbandry. Work closely with the primary veterinarian to implement plans and strategies for preventive prophylaxis and eradication of pest organisms
