Currently manage the budget, administrative compliance, and training for a company of more than 70 signals intelligence Marines as an Executive Officer. Lead the company in the Commander’s absence.

Led a Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare platoon of 20 Marines. Deployed overseas in support of counterterrorism and Great Power Competition missions, responsible for platoon performance and $3.8 million of sensitive government equipment. Developed briefing, presentation, and analytical skills as a signals intelligence Platoon Commander. Translated complex technical capabilities and analysis into compelling intelligence narratives.

Wrote training policies, updated training compliance management, and achieved 100% completion of more than 20 training categories for over 600 Marines as the Battalion Training Officer. Received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for leadership, initiative, and audit inspection results.

In March 2021, reported to The Basic School, a 6-month program that trains and develops new Marine Corps officers into rifle platoon commanders. Graduated in the top 5 percent of the class and received meritorious Career Designation as a result. Graduated from Tactical Intelligence Officer Course (TIOC) in December 2021 and Signals Intelligence Officer Course (SIOC) in February 2022, becoming a Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Officer.

Completed the 10-week Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on March 21, 2021. Graduated in the top 10 percent of the officer class.

Developed and executed public policy, legislative, and political strategies to advance non-profit goals at the state and federal level using excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills. Led government affairs, lobbying, and advocacy efforts, to include the management of a statewide network of volunteer advocates and organization of the capital advocacy day. Built and managed relationships with external health care and industry associations, NGOs, public policy experts, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders. Cultivated and managed stakeholder relationships with trust and integrity. Drafted legislation, achieved legislation sponsorship, and testified on public health policy. Leveraged public policy research experience to deliver policy impact narratives to legislators.

Wrote internal communication plans and strategies in coordination with the Senior Vice President of Public Policy, insurance service lines, and other senior stakeholders. Worked with Attorney General Marty Jackley on gubernatorial campaign message, goals, and policy. Served as chief public affairs representative and media liaison for South Dakota and national outlets. Assisted with donor relations, fundraisers, and targeted voter outreach. Wrote press releases and contributed key components of platform that included 13 policy initiatives. Developed skills in speechwriting, rapid response communications, social media, and website layout.

Produced research on congressional oversight, capacity, and productivity. Met with Democracy Fund grant recipients to refine implementation strategy, ensure compliance, and track progress toward grant goals.

Worked 40+ hours per week in addition to full-time public policy graduate program enrollment. Assisted legislative correspondents with constituent communications, services, and meetings. Tracked and reviewed legislation and wrote memos advising the senator on co-sponsorship requests.

Directed the Communications team for the Student Advisory Board of the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics), generating original content to promote and cover campus speakers and events. Assisted the SDSU Scholarship Coordinator in overseeing a $2 million Opportunity Scholarship fund and a $7.2 million Jackrabbit Guarantee Scholarship fund. Worked directly with students to obtain merit and needs-based financial aid.

Appointed by Governor Dennis Daugaard and confirmed by the Legislature as one of nine regents overseeing the governance of South Dakota’s six public universities and two special schools, with a strategic vision that emphasized student success, academic quality, research and economic development, and affordability. Oversaw university administration policies that affected more than 36,000 students and required a fiscal year 2015 budget of more than $800 million. Testified before the Appropriations Committee and worked with members of the Legislature on education initiatives, including a successful fiscal year 2015 tuition freeze. Interviewed university presidential applicants and assessed presidential performance through annual performance reviews. Served as a representative on campus building committees to select architects and construction managers at risk, including a $4.5 million Plant Science Research Facility and a $1.3 million Student Wellness Center expansion at South Dakota State University.

Assisted Dean Timothy Nichols in teaching Honors 100 Freshman Orientation. Graded student essays, supported a university-wide Common Read program, provided instruction in Honors core components: research, independent study, ethics, colloquium.

Elected Chairman of the SD College Republicans in April 2014 and worked with donors to establish a record fundraising amount for the organization over a three month campaign. Implemented a new walking app. Helped organize the state party's biennial convention and authored platform planks. Worked with statewide campaigns to develop their messaging on college campuses.
