Aspiring world-changer through teaching, mentoring and volunteering. I have been teaching at the University level for over 20 years, and am a highly effective multidisciplinary educator, specializing in disadvantaged and non-traditional students, but highly invested in all of my students. My commitment to my students goes beyond the classroom to mentoring them as they advance through their academic and professional lives. The value and efficacy of human connection cannot be understated, though our world increasingly devalues it. I strive to roll back that devaluation through persistent and, if necessary, intensive human engagement.I teach courses in Communication, Sociology, Education, History, Literature, and Composition. I also do work with the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, to connect to my earlier graduate school work in primary education and free-choice learning environments. My preferred students are aspirational ones, looking to improve their position in life and in this world, through education. I can reach them and aid them in their journey. I consider myself a practitioner not of research, as most academics, but applied knowledge. I use my broad experience and studies to help educate students at all levels, and from all walks of life. I am a guide and a mentor, as much as a teacher. My research interests involve ways of driving systemic change of educational thinking and policy to better create a flexible learning environment necessary in a rapidly changing world of ever-expanding knowledge horizons.Specialties: Education, Social Change, Non-Profit management, program development, inter-organizational networking, Research, Data Mining, Symbolic Analysis, Social Problems, Rhetoric, Classroom Management, Curriculum Development, Multidisciplinarity, Animal Rescue, Social Networking, Public Speaking, Leadership, Museums, Free Choice Learning
