I loved that everything I needed to know about the product was right there, if I just looked. My mom would tell me to get my nose out of those surfer magazines and read a good book. I couldn't, I was hooked. The words and pictures transported me to another place. Looking back, it was the ads I was drawn to the most; the way they made you have to have the latest (fill in your product here), in such a way that you didn't know you had to have it until you saw the ad. (clever bastards).It's been awhile since then, but I am still a label reader and I subscribe to more magazines than i can read in a month.
