For over twenty years, I have been representing people catastrophically injured by others' wrongdoing. I have represented people injured by defective industrial and consumer products, unsafe construction practices, dangerous driving and serious medical errors, among other things. I have helped to secure many multi-million dollar recoveries for my clients, providing them with much-needed financial relief, as well as the sense of justice that comes from knowing the responsible party has been held accountable, while also encouraging institutions to reform their policies and practices to ensure safer products and medical care. As a member of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, I work to protect and expand the rights of injured persons in the appellate courts of Pennsylvania. My appellate advocacy, on behalf of both PAJ and my own clients, has resulted in several positive developments in the law, including protecting medical malpractice victims from claims they were aware of the risks of the procedure that injured them, and clarifying that medical experts are qualified to offer opinions against doctors of differing specialties if they're familiar with the standard for the care at issue. I am on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and on the Editorial Board of, and a regular contributor to, The Verdict, PTLA's monthly newsletter. Since 2010, I have been co-author, together with federal Judge Gerald McHugh, of the annual supplement to Pennsylvania Torts, a treatise that succinctly summarizes the legal principles essential to the practice of personal injury litigation, which forms part of the West Pennsylvania Practice Series published by Thompson-Reuters.
