[My experience most closely matches that of a Training and Development Specialist as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration] In the role as an instructor/developer, we're often responsible for ensuring that the learner's experience is both impactful to the organization and meaningful for the learner. In this role, given that my learners are those that will guide the learning of others across a wide variety of functions, this is a responsibility I do not take lightly and thus I work, be it cognitively or physically, with all faculties that I can muster in each day to be a force for well-thought, measured, and enduring impact to this organization's people, plans, programs, and processes.

  • United States Air Force
Technical Training Course Designer / Developer
United States Air Force Aug 2020 - Dec 2020
    San Angelo, Texas, United States
[My experience most closely matches that of an Instructional Designer and Technologist as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]Tapped to deliver innovation where there had barely been any development in years, I rallied a group of developers and subject-matter-experts to take the last course anyone ever thought could be of value and make it into something great. Now, not only is it touted as a bastion of innovation and a model to be replicated, but it also stands to yield higher rates of attentive participation, meaningful generation, and immersive engagement with the same days of training. Bonus – I introduced and immersed 5 subject matter experts, 3 developers, and 2 training managers to/in the Agile development model and spearheaded a movement to update unit training requirements to better reflect the newfound sub-competencies/concepts that executing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) Instructional Systems Design approach depends on.

Ncoic, Training Campus Casuals Airmen Program
United States Air Force Aug 2019 - Jul 2020
    San Angelo, Texas, United States
[My experience most closely matches that of a General and Operations Manager as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]Following the relative success I’d had establishing a program counter to the norm of traditional, ‘sage-on-the-stage’ instruction, I was assigned the role of designing and developing a program to motivate and mentor, more gainfully employ, and provide self-directed development to those students no longer in training status (SNITS). In addition to holding daily group and individual coaching on such topics as having a professional mindset, the how and why of intelligence, and the strategic shifts in the DoD, I established and normalized standards that - put more formal, autonomously pathed, and asynchronous learning opportunities in front of SNITS than they’d ever had before, ensured a mutually beneficial exchange of their time and effort in support of the training campus, and saw the complete elimination of gaps in the physical security of six sensitive training facilities that stemmed from the improper escort of uncleared personnel from poorly trained and previously unsupervised SNITS.

    Ncoic, Global Language Mentorship Program
United States Air Force Aug 2017 - Aug 2019
[My experience most closely matches that of a Training and Development Manager as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]Responding to a call Headquarters Air Force for lower rates of failure from those airmen taking their first Defense Language Proficiency Test at their first duty station, I rallied dissimilar and geographically separated pieces of the language analyst pipeline and unified them to combat the curve of forgetting that plagues our career field. First, I analyzed the problem and realized that a lack of rigorous and/or engaging self-study once leaving their initial language acquisition training was the culprit. I then conducted 400 hours of self-development over 3 months and built my own knowledge of pedagogical and andragogical concepts related to the best way to engender self-direction in learners. Next, I socialized that knowledge at all levels of the career field and training ecosystem for language analysts by asking targeted questions of peers, training supervisors, and senior managers. In doing so, I made them confront our pipeline’s failure to ensure our learners had the right mix of knowledge and skills training, delivered at the right times and in the most engaging ways, to support the continuous, self-directed progress in their language development. Finally, my team and I rapidly designed, developed, delivered, and continuously improved the quality and reliability of our program - one meant to provide maximal autonomy and support to learners so that they became engaged in a lifelong, habitual exercise of language development through taking ownership of, reflecting on, and effectively strategizing the means and methods utilized to achieve the ultimate goal of the highest orders of professional proficiency.
  • United States Air Force
    Cryptologic Language Analyst/Instructor
United States Air Force Oct 2016 - Aug 2017
[My experience most closely matches that of a Training and Development Specialist as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]In addition to delivering cryptologic language and cultural training to military personnel, I tracked their progression and reported the effectiveness of training to the training developers and managers. Further, I worked with training developers and field units to research and integrate new training materials and vary the instructional methodologies utilized by the course to increase its efficacy and effectiveness.I’m proudest of having rallied a team of subject-matter-experts to begin thinking about how the course could improve, facilitating higher rates of collaborative design and development, and instilling a sense of urgency, both within and outside of the team, to innovate the methodologies used by our instructors and developers.
  • United States Air Force
    Fusion Analyst
United States Air Force Mar 2015 - Sep 2016
[My experience most closely matches that of a Management Analyst as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration] In order to discharge the primary function of this position, performing and managing intelligence analysis activities/functions in all domains to identify and interpret real-time threat warning data, I first had to gain and maintain a deeper level of knowledge on global communications procedures. Once I did, I analyzed and exploited global communications for intelligence information, developed targets, and provided situational awareness for operations personnel and key leadership in support of Computer Network Operations. Additionally, I was tasked with developing an entry-level job qualification standard to be utilized in the training of junior operators who were new to our division on the subjects of their geographic area of responsibility and introductory target knowledge. Finally, and the thing I’m proudest of, is ensuring the responsible collection of intelligence by advocating for the use of an underutilized database that proved essential in detecting and mitigating the potential for noncompliant collection, drafting standard operating procedures guides to familiarize users with its use in our context, and retooling our tactics, techniques, and procedures to standardize the integration of the database in our daily workflows.
  • United States Air Force
    Mission Manager
United States Air Force Sep 2013 - Mar 2015
[My experience most closely matches that of a Business Analyst as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]Handpicked for my cross-functional experience and expertise, I represented the senior leadership of one of the site’s largest and most-followed divisions, both internally and externally, in the maintenance of operational continuity. In the performance of this role, I regularly interacted with front-line supervisors and systems’ technicians to troubleshoot and mitigate the impact of system outages, crafted inter-divisional briefings and mission status reports and delivered them to mission stakeholders, and summarized and documented reports of emergent threats, conflicts, and contingency operations relevant to and/or active in our region of focus.Additionally, I was asked to conduct a work-process analysis for our mission management cell and, in addition to driving the wider utilization of newly acquired enterprise software, I recommended, developed, and implemented changes that increased the accuracy, comprehensiveness, and timeliness of operations logs and dramatically reduced team/mission failure by increasing the sharing and retention of knowledge. Finally, I revised on-the-job training materials to reflect the changes and designed, developed, and implemented training plans to standardize the delivery of the training provided and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of those that completed it.
  • United States Air Force
    Tactical Systems Operator
United States Air Force Feb 2013 - Aug 2013
[My experience most closely matches that of an Operations Research Analyst as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration] In the process of supporting Operation Enduring Freedom as an Operational Support Flier I certified on 4 different ISR assets and 3 mission systems and flew on over 100 missions. During these missions, I obtained and reported vital data on high-value targets, in real-time, to other assets, ground forces, and forward commanders by operating a host of geo-locational and communications equipment. In the final months of my deployment, I provided several hours of in-flight and simulation training to a collection of replacement operators in the performance of processes and procedures utilized by our technicians and ensure Joint Task Force’s overarching goal of maximal effect on target with minimal casualty. In addition to routinely having stretched the limits my short-term memory and ability to concentrate, I vastly improved my ability to balance competing priorities in order to complete multiple tasks in rapid succession and speak with concision and authority when communicating.
  • United States Air Force
    Cryptologic Linguist
United States Air Force Nov 2010 - Feb 2013
[My experience most closely matches that of a General and Operations Manager as profiled by the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration]In this role, I provided direct threat-warning to US/allied service-members, assets, and installations in the CENTCOM and EUCOM theaters of operation by performing on-line translation and analysis of voice communications during live, tactical operations and applying target technical knowledge to maintain specialized databases, operational logs, and administrative forms. The thing I feel was most formative from this experience was that, towards the end, I was tasked to manage my team of language analysts and maintain administrative supervision of an additional 14 airmen not in my section. At the same time, the USAF was drawing down the total number of active duty airmen and I was expected to identify and coach those exiting on their transition on their benefits and entitlements
