Directly responsible for supplier selection and negotiations, inventory purchases and import logistics, setting prices, overall merchandising and marketing.Managed to be profitable in the first month of operation. Achieved annual sales above US$500k with a net profit margin of 18% after taxes.Sold my share of the business to my partner on November 2006.

Managed three interconnected departments with 50+ collaborators, 3 direct reports and a purchasing budget of more than US$50mm a year.Helped transition one of the largest sewing plants in the Western Hemisphere (12,000+ employees) from a clothing assembly plant (where the clients sent up to 80% of the raw materials to be assembled) to a full package clothing plant (where the plant designs, gets approval, sources and imports all the materials to produce a garment). Negotiated with key suppliers setting up several Vendor Managed Inventories inside Koramsa's warehouses and factories, which reduced inventory levels, reduced lead times, and increased credit terms; overall decreasing working capital and freeing up cash.

1998 - P&G Latin America’s Financial Strategy Seminar Guatemala’s representative During my University’s senior year, won the opportunity to represent Guatemala in P&G’s Latin America’s Financial Student Challenge in Caracas, Venezuela. Where my team bested five teams from other Latin American countries, in a business case competition, by computer simulating the launching of a new consumer product and achieving the highest market share growth and profits of all the teams. Was invited to work at P&G after the seminar.Supervised the Treasury Department of Procter & Gamble Interamericas (i.e. Central America). Responsibilities included securing the availability of cash funds to cover working capital, supplier payments, and monitoring cash levels in the subsidiaries in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.During my employment worked with P&G banking partner, Citibank, implementing an online system to centralize cash management of the five countries P&G Interamericas operated in. The project was personally approved by P&G CIO (due to the IT equipment needed), and it substantially reduced risk, increased short term cash returns (thru overnight investments of the cash pools) and helped visualize cash availability throughout the region in real time (similar to today's electronic banking, but something unheard of back in 1999, using secure dial up modems and direct access to CitIbank’s SWIFT infrastructure)Led an effort throughout the company to reduce working capital thru increased credit terms with suppliers and a faster collection of accounts receivables, this generated excess cash which was used to pay the first ever dividend to the Procter & Gamble Global, our corporate HQ.

Interned for three months during my last university summer break. Worked under Senior Consultants on two projects during that time: - A study of the construction market/companies in Guatemala for Grupo ICA de Mexico, identifying possible partners to co-develop construction projects in what used to be the old US base near the Panama Canal, Panama; and a - Business Process Reengineering (BPR) for DISTELSA, which wanted to transform itself from an exclusive SONY wholesaler to a multibrand electronics “big box” retailer. DISTELSA eventually followed thru with our BPR study, and evolved into TIENDAS MAX, the region’s leading electronics chain store, with more than 35 stores in Guatemala and El Salvador.
