Denver International Airport (DEN) is the third-busiest airport in the world, connecting Denver globally through flight and business. DEN is the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $33 billion for the region annually and employing nearly 30,000 people.Jose led all external communications for the airport including media relations and crisis communications and provides communications support to other divisions within DEN. Jose was one of the airport’s lead spokespeople, particularly during crisis situations. Additionally, he developed strategic communication plans and provided high-level media relations including researching issues, interviewing, and preparing subject matter experts.Responsibilities:Develop, execute, and evaluate strategic external communications.Maintain a high-performance team and establish management practices and process that ensures the accomplishment of performance standards.Develop strategic messaging and statements during crisis or for various issues and prepare talking points for leadership media interviews.Provide crisis management and/or communications during emergency situations, acting as the lead information source to the public and media and work with stakeholders such as police, federal agencies and airlines to coordinate response and messaging.Develop communication plans and strategies for enhanced PR with target audiences.Work with the marketing team to support the development of the social media strategy; create compelling and relevant social media content that grows followers and engagement.Identify and foster relationships with new media partners to expand coverage and pitch compelling stories.Develop and execute media training for executives or other key DEN leaders.
