A graduate from UC Berkeley in with a B.Sc in Nutritional Science. My first year post undergrad was as a Scholar and Researcher at UC Berkeley through the Bay Area RaMP Program. I was able to work on a project tailored to my interests in Britt Koskella's Lab looking at bacterial interactions in community to better understanding microbiome dynamics and pathogen invasion potential. Since ending my time in the program, I have starting working at UCSF under the guidance of Dr. Cherry Leung and Dr. Tony Yang to round out my scientific training before applying to grad school. My current interests have led me to pursue research experiences that have the potential to address public health issues in a variety of fields, especially those that overwhelmingly affect BIPOC communities. At UC Berkeley, I was fortunate to learn how race-based medicine has actively harmed BIPOC throughout history, and hope to combat it through research that aims to close those gaps. I was additionally committed to ensuring Latine students had the available resources to succeed in higher education and be in community with the greater BIPOC and QT population.
