I have been serving as a lawyer with the RCMP External Review Committee since 2007. The Committee is an independent labour and employment tribunal that reports to the Canadian Parliament through the Minister of Public Safety. It provides civilian oversight of labour relations within Canada's national police force, the RCMP. My role is to support the Committee in making findings and recommendations to the Commissioner of the RCMP with regard to police grievances and appeals. I do this by giving legal advice to the Committee and mentoring junior lawyers. I graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000, was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002, began my legal career with a top labour and employment law firm in Toronto, and then spent time with the labour and employment law group at the Ottawa office of a prominent, international full service firm. I later served as legal counsel with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, where I worked on the Gomery Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities and provided legal advice on a range of internal and external matters, including audit reports tabled before Parliament.
