Josh Davies holds degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Shortly after graduating with his doctorate, he won the position of Co-Principal Trumpet in the Orquesta Sinfónica de la UANL (Monterrey Symphony Orchestra) in Monterrey, Mexico for the 2009-2010 season. Josh has been Principal Trumpet in the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra for four seasons. In early 2009 Josh joined Concordia University-Texas as an adjunct professor of trumpet and jazz. His duties have included teaching private brass lessons, music theory, music theory and conducting the Jazz Ensemble. Also with his duties at Concordia University-Texas, Josh is on faculty of the Concordia Music Academy and The Austin Chamber Music Center as well as a board member of the Austin Chamber Ensemble. Josh is the Executive and Artistic Director for the Austin Brass Project, a 501-C3 non-profit professional brass organization dedicated to brass performance and the education of brass music in Texas. Previous positions include Temple College and The University of Texas at Austin.Josh can be heard over 20 CD's with various labels in jazz, classical, alternative, rock, latin, tejano, and funk styles and performed with such groups as the Monterrey Metropolitan Opera Company, Monterrey Chamber Orchestra, Austin Symphony, Austin Lyric Opera, Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Temple Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Symphony Orchestra and Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra. Josh has performed extensively throughout the United States and Mexico and Europe in places such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. He has shared the stage with such artists as Byron Stripling, Phil Smith, Ellis Marsalis, Dick Oatts, Rob Smith, Kenny Garrett, Dewie Redman, Chris Murrell, and Fred Wesley, Fernando de la Mora, José Carreras, The Three Mexican Tenors, Alexander Markov and Raúl Di Blasio to name a few.
