Nuclear Generation Intern

I worked to prepare my team to transfer to a new testing platform for Air Operated Valves. It was necessary to immerse myself into the AOV world in order to understand the functionality of them. After understanding how they functioned I was to collect data that the new testing platform required to test the valves. Sources of information were part drawings, previous part tests, and going to gemba. Often times the drawings and previous tests did not match what was actually at gemba, so it was important to understand what I was looking at. The transition to the new testing platform was a result of the Duke/Progress merger that happened, both "sides" were testing separately the way they had previous to the merger. A standard way of testing across the fleet was needed to allow resource sharing for tests as well as comparison. During my internship I tried to maintain a state of curiosity by taking advantage of every opportunity to go to gemba.
