After playing a Hip Hop set in Kreuzberg Berlin in January 2015, I was offered a part- time position at the Berlin based record label Project:Mooncircle, the label boasts some innovative producers on the roster including Submerse, My Panda Shall Fly, Kidkanevil and many more. I began assisting label manager and owner Gordon Geisking in the general day-to-day running of the label, from registering artist details in the UK PPL database, to arranging record distribution and liaising with existing and new artists to the label. I then became tasked with working in detail in promotion, using my personal contact list, built up over many years, to help promote artists and their material pre-release, contacting platforms such as Fact Magazine, Boiler Room and Dazed Digital and arranging exclusive streams, features and interviews.I also pride myself in discovering new artists and regularly filter through the large number of demos the label received on a daily basis to find artists that fit the musical ethos and level of quality that customers and fans now expect from the label, whilst also taking it upon myself to closely watch brand new and potentially groundbreaking artists to approach when ready. Working at PMC has given me great inside knowledge of the tasks and challenges required to successfully run a popular record label.

During the summer of 2014 I secured a weekly two hour slot on the relatively new London based station Radar Radio, the show was very popular and I had a number of guest weekly, I conducted interviews, promoted local gigs and artist billings, and prided myself on being one the only shows on a Grime orientated station to play old 45’s, funk soul and afro-beat as well as modern, electronic/bass driven music. I received an email from a friend in London who told me that Mary-Anne Hobbs had been listening to the show and liked my selections and presenting demeanor (obviously I was happy to hear this).

On July 11th 2-4PM GMT I will my first show live on Dalston based NTS Radio, having known founders Femi and Shaun for a year after running the bar at a few of their club events, they were kind enough to slot into the stations “open Deck” schedule, My show style is a varied mix of “Soulful electronic and world music” ranging from Lo-Fi hip hop to soul, ambient, afro beat and “Beats” in general. I will be performing from time to time on NTS in future due to the appreciation received for my one off show last year.

From January 2014 I began writing for Berlin based experimental music site www.finestego.com, I am tasked with researching and discovering new music across a large range of genres both electronic and acoustic. I specialize in Ambient trip hop and glitch beat material, from artists such as Flying Lotus, Submerse, Kidakanevil and so forth, although I can and do write about many other styles of music. I have written release reviews and critiqued videos, live shows and festivals. This is an unpaid role that I do because I love the people behind Finest Ego and their idea of spreading new music to the masses, specifically tat of less recognized artists.

In April of 2013, I began working as assistant to B-Traits (Brianna Price) for her shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1 XTRA. Each week I met with B-Traits a number of times to go over content for each show; more specifically I dealt with her email accounts and manage the influx of new music sent to her from Plugging companies and individual artists. I go through every email and handpick tracks that suit the musical style of her shows, and then I formulated playlists by researching which tracks mix well together in terms of key and structure. OnceB-Traits had made the final decision on the playlist for the show, I then wrote up the playlist information to be added to her on-air script. For example each track will include information such as Label, release date, touring/gig information and other trivial knowledge regarding the artists to help increase content for her script.In addition I also formulated content for specific features of the shows, for Example I researched into the history of specific electronic genres to come up with each weeks “RAVE DIGGER ANTHEM”, a feature which bring focus to a tune that changed or shaped the electronic music scene in the UK and across the globe. I also wrote her most popular feature during her Monday night show entitled “The Mixfluence” whereby artists provide a 30 minute mix for the show, playing a range of music that influenced/influences them to produce the style of music they do, this proved a very popular feature and was the most listened to mix behind the iconic “Essential Mix” back in 2014.For Digital Sound-boy I was content manager, specifically I acted as an aid for Shy FX and B-Traits, assisting in various elements of running the record label; this included creating online content for the labels website, updating all the labels social media outlets and helping to formulate events and competitions on behalf of Digital Sound-boy to increase interaction between the label and the public.

From October 5th I have began working at Rinse FM in East London as aBroadcast Assistant every Saturday, I am responsible for the running of shows from 8AM to 4PM, these include shows from Alexander Nut, Yinka, Brackles, Perempay, Monki and DJ Allbury. My main duties at Rinse FM include manningthe Sonifex desk to cue-in advertisements, check levels and play-out prerecorded content where necessary, whilst ensuring the output of each show was fluid and consistent, meeting OFCOM broadcasting standards.My roles as Assistant-producer included writing running orders, comprising a playlist, contacting artists, managers and producers for the shows and assisting the presenter so as to ensure the output of the show remained fluidand professional. From September 2013 I began speaking live on air during Yinka & Friends on a Saturday morning, I was on paper as her Assistant Producer but due to the chemistry we had off microphone the Broadcasting Head allowed the both of us to chat live on air, I helped with features and read the weather reports whilst also participating in interviews. My Position at Rinse FM allowed me to work with and meet some of my favorite producers such as Floating Points, Flako, Aybee/DeepBlack and many more.
