Ensuring a skilled, competent and delivery focused team, driving high performance and continuous improvement across all aspects of project delivery.

Leading a specialist Engineering team, delivering a U.K. wide (inc Northern Ireland) emergency pipeline inspection and repair service, and providing specialist engineering pipeline intervention solutions to both internal and external customers within the oil and gas industry. Achieving high performance in the safe delivery of project/programme management, and ensuring a highly skilled, competent and motivated workforce. Operating within regulated and commercial business environments, managing all aspects of Temporary Works/CDM/Principal Contractor Projects across the country.

The role as a Repair Supervisor was to manage the daily performance, safety and compliance of eight Repair Teams and a number of contract partners within a Geographic area. It was my responsibility as their supervisor to ensure that they were working to the required Health, Safety and Environmental standards, whilst being effective in their actions. Key Tasks The key task within this role is man management through creating an engaged workforce, who have the confidence and competence to safely deliver a variety of workload under set timescales and guidelines. Through the management of Safe Systems of Work (SSRA/Permitry/FOA) setting Engineers and contractors to work is also a daily task. This coincides with assigning SCO competencies including the reviewing and authorising of STC’s. The management of high priority incident/crisis situations, whilst applying the knowledge from company policies and procedures. Carry out Workplace Technical and Safety Inspections through a structured system and act accordingly on the outcomes. Driving a customer focused team and engaging with both Domestic and Commercial Customers to allow expectations to be set, including dealing with 3rd party issues to maintain National Grid Reputations. General management of holiday approvals, minimum numbers, resourcing (manpower), planning, expenses, and sickness absence management (Stage 1) along with Depot/Unit Manager Responsibilities. Monthly management review meetings, to both my teams and Senior Management including: Overall Network Risk, SHE/IMS Report, Resourcing, Delivery/Work Standards, along with Site Inspection findings.

Working within the Gas Distribution Strategic Partnerships gaining experience and knowledge regarding the Mains Replacement Project Programme. This was alongside a structured development plan leading towards an Authorising Engineer Status under SCO. Key Tasks This role focused heavily on the planning and implementation of replacement projects within the Distribution Network. An overseeing position providing input from the Pre-Design Process, working to both time and financial scales including risk management of the project life. Health and Safety Management of the teams working on the project, and regular site inspections in addition to project reviews. Awareness of CDM Regulations with regards to Project Supervision i.e. HSE Requirements, Client duties, Pre-Construction Information and Competence and Resources. Management of contract teams of varying sizes, ensuring meeting target expectations. Building awareness through site inspections of the requirements of National Grid, such as Health and Safety, Policies and Procedures compliance. Involvement with 3rd Party issues from both Commercial and Domestic stakeholders. Actions including diversion routes, dealing with Land Owners and dealing with local authorities.

3 Year Advanced Apprenticeship Programme that was completed within 18 month as a result of self-motivation. Academic qualifications finished within 2 years whilst working as a Qualified Technician. Key Tasks Destructive and Non-Destructive testing of defected materials for examination purposes. Preparing reports for customers, detailing key findings and advising on process changes. Meetings with External Customers to work together to reduce defects and improve efficiency of current processes.
