As the Dean of Students I engage with young people in grades K-6, hold mediations through tough decisions, lead by example, guide with compassion, and hold students accountable in a firm and fair way. I teach that life isn’t fair, and provide strategies to overcome challenges. I engage with community partners, tamiles, and district officials. My goal is to capture hearts, change lives, and help all students feel like they are a miracle with limitless potential. I help with college guidance, future career advisement, campus discipline, instructional coaching, teacher pep-talks, parenting advice and overall life coaching. I love my job.

Legacy Traditional Schools focuses on a "Back-to-Basics" approach to learning. This campus implements an accelerated pace of study, high expectations for academics and behavior, self-contained K-6 classrooms, bell-to-bell instruction, integrated Language Arts curriculum (Spalding), accelerated mathematics (Saxon), and includes a focus on citizenship, and leadership. I am the Junior High Assistant Principal overseeing grades 4 - 8. The campus has 1330 students in grades K-8. Within this capacity I also serve as the campus Athletic Director, JR High Scheduling, McKenney Vento Homeless Liaison and as the Campus Testing Coordinator.

McCormick Middle School is an innovative campus that launched in 2016, with the educational focus being on Blended Learning, Project Based Learning and Socratic Discussion. I was on the administrative team that opened this brand new middle school campus to approximately 750 new students in grades 6-8. Within this capacity I have served as the Assistant Principal in charge of: textbook distribution, transportation, campus safety, facilities use, student discipline (for 7th grade), as well as a T-TESS Certified Academic Appraiser overseeing the Science and Social Studies departments.

In this role, I assisted the Assistant Principal in the supervision of the Hays High School Freshmen Center. I oversaw transcripts, scheduling, academic progress as well as social/emotional learning for approximately 600 high school students.

I started a non-profit organization in a small community known as YCAP to provide underage children with a fun, safe, drug free, alcohol free environment to hang out at on the weekends This involved continuous fundraising, presentations, marketing and positive community relations to grow the program.

I was the sole counselor for students in grades 9-12, overseeing the academic progress and social/emotional well being of approximately 350 total students. I also served as the Campus Testing Coordinator, Project Management, as well as the Master of Ceremonies for various school and district functions.

I served as a news reporter for the Johnson City Record Courier. I attended and reported on monthly city council, school board, and county meetings. I also covered community news of high interest to the public in detailed, and compelling news articles for the local newspaper.

Capturing Hearts and Changing Lives!

I was the sole 9th thru 12th grade English Teacher for at-risk teens in a non-traditional academic setting. Many students were on the verge of dropping out of school and it was not uncommon to work with students who had been court ordered to be in school in order to avoid legal consequences. It was both challenging when a students life choices took them further down a negative path, but also highly rewarding opportunity to assist students change their lives around and finally graduate from high school.

I served as an 11th and 12th grade English Language Arts Teacher and Student Council Advisor at a public high school.
