I managed day-to-day workflows for the Software Engineers. I sourced, recruited, and interviewed software engineering talent. I oversaw Trava’s architecture and cloud operations efforts. I worked closely with Security and UX leads at Trava. I represented Trava in the community through volunteering efforts and speaking engagements.

I was the first employee at Trava and worked closely with the CTO to launch Trava’s security assessment platform from scratch and secure $3.5m in seed funding. I architected and built Trava’s event-driven security scanners, the authentication schemes, and built our CI/CD systems to support hands-off deployments. I did full-stack work — everything from React components to serverless apps and cloud architecture. I built our engineering processes and sourced & hired key engineering talent. Through my contributions at Trava, I was recognized as Techpoint’s Tech 25 for 2021 — one of Indiana’s top contributors to the tech landscape.

I helped entrepreneurs bring their vision to life and helped structure their early technical team, while offering the perspective and experience of a startup engineer. I established the early-stage architecture, identified and hired key technical talent, riffed on new business ideas, built SaaS teams, and lifted up local technical talent.

I built Remodel Health's Product & Engineering team, and worked across business units to rebuild the Remodel Health platform. Established a talent pipeline & technical assessment process from scratch. Identified and hired key team members. Established deliverable milestones, team-based OKRs, and reported progress to the board and senior leadership.

I was involved throughout the development lifecycle -- from ideation to supporting features in production. I identified bottlenecks and opportunities while helping the teams I led move forward and gel.Scaling an organization to meet evolving demands is critical -- I helped the department grow from a single small team in one location, to nearly a dozen teams across several locations & timezones. I helped evolve our product discovery phase, our development coding standards and practices, as well as our QA testing guidelines.Supporting customers was a big focus for much of my time as a Software Development Manager. I established a more sustainable support escalation path which had visibility at the executive level. At times, I leveraged my experience in customer support to succinctly state the status and progress of critical bug fixes. I've striven to establish and enhance teams that have the agility and context to do an awesome job. I've been the hiring manager for many of our recent hires, and I've even filled the Scrum Master role for a considerable time.

I wrote software for the Synthesis collaboration platform, which allowed Fortune 100 clients to collaborate across thousands of miles in real-time using multi-touch video walls.My responsibilities, in addition to software development and hardware integration, included DevOps tasks, escalated support & QA efforts, agile process improvement, and team building.

Developed software for collaborative multi-touch applications, interactive digital signage solutions, as well as custom software applications. Handled escalated support and on-site deployments & integration. Assisted in setting up our annual tradeshow booth (InfoComm 2012, 2013, and 2014), and gave demonstrations throughout the show. My work focused primarily on software development, but I interacted regularly with AV engineers in complex AV environments.
