As VP of investment strategy, I work with the four other executive members to make final investment decisions for our fund. I also work with each sector to develop investment strategies, train the managing directors in valuation and financial modeling, and ensure each sector is progressing in their pitches.

The GC SMIC is a student-run, long only, investment fund that is composed of all 11 sectors of the S&P 500. The fund has one managing director and 3-4 analysts per sector. As senior managing director for the financial services sector, I led three analysts to create a sector investment strategy, screen for stocks that met that strategy, and perform financial analysis and valuation on those stocks.

Assisted in client review and introduction meetings using market research on a variety of topics such as the presidential election and multiple geopolitical events. Worked with multiple financial planning software and CRMs to help the firm inform clients on their financial outlook. Participated in several educational meetings with product wholesalers, portfolio analysts, and insurance agents. Assisted in adding a new subscription-based fee structure and new marketing efforts to bring in more capital.

Lead Georgia College & State University’s team in the CFA Institute Global Research Challenge. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Each student will be tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. They gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst

Assisted both the economic damages and valuation team in cases of litigation, IPO due diligence, and estate matters. Worked on the valuation of 3 private companies valued over $1 billion combined. Used Excel daily to work in financial models such as the discounted cash flow, precedent transactions, and comparable company models
