I worked with a team of engineers to develop a robotic endoscope that can increase the precision and accuracy of endoscopies, while reducing procedure time and hospital cost. I helped design and simulate the mechanical function of the endoscope in SolidWorks, rapidly prototype and test the device using additive manufacturing, and develop a business model and raise funding through student entrepreneurship programs.

I improved a fiber optics manufacturing process, reducing cost by 37.4% and saving over $100,000 within five years. I also removed human error from this process by utilizing NIS Elements AR. In addition, I examined and extensively tested four simulation software packages (FlexSim, Simio, Arena, and Enterprise Dynamics) to help optimize and improve manufacturing lines.

As an intern at B. Braun Medical, I worked in a multidisciplinary team to develop a new product that prevents intravenous catheter associated infections. To accomplish this task, I designed a prototype for the product in Solidworks, 3D printed and assembled the prototype, performed a cost analysis, and then presented the project to upper management. In addition, I also performed lab testing on a major product in development, analyzed data collected from the testing, and presented it during triweekly meetings. Finally, I worked with a cross-functional international team to modify multiple existing products.

I designed and performed an original experiment to determine the exposure times of various cameras, and wrote a program with a graphical user interface that analyzed data collected from said experiment. I also designed and built an adjustable calibration device allowing for the standardized calibration of Gammapix© on any phone. In addition, I developed a program to allow for the tertiary calibration of select phones, by first compiling pertinent information from the Gammapix© database and then analyzing this data to determine the calibration numbers for phones meeting certain criteria. Finally, I coauthored a paper titled “Crowd-Sourced Calibration of Uncontrolled Radiation Detectors,” published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, as well as a patent concerning tertiary calibration that is pending.

I assisted a non-profit in donating thousands of books to impoverished children by unpacking books, organizing the company warehouse, delivering books to schools, and transporting supplies.
