As Parks Manager, I am responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operational oversight for Ann Arbor’s dynamic and diverse parks system and recreational facilities. Our department has 35 full-time staff and up to 400 seasonal and part-time staff. Our system includes over 2,200 acres of park land with 161 parks (including 80 neighborhood parks and playgrounds), and recreation facilities including 4 pools, 2 golf courses, 2 hockey rinks, event rental facilities and shelters, a Senior Center, 2 Community Centers, and a Farmers Market.My responsibilities include routine and complex work with park planning, green space management, park forestry, capital projects, park and facility maintenance, recreational programming, budgeting and financial planning, staff supervision and development, a robust volunteer program, and a Natural Area Preservation team.

Programs include day camps, youth sports, Girls on the Run and STRIDE.Help branches achieve growth in quality, consistency, and financial results in all areas.Ensure quality training of staff and participants in YMCA, state and local expectations.Responsible for over four million dollars of programming budget - $3.1 million day camp, $1.4 million sports including Girls on the Run and STRIDE program.Championed growth of Girls on the Run from infancy in metro Detroit to the 7th largest council in the US.Mentored staff from 11 different branches.Participated as a member of the Software Implementation team that evaluated, recommended, developed, implemented, trained and supported the transition from Protivity member management to ActiveNetwork software.

Manage day to day operations of the Macomb YMCA in downtown Mt. Clemens.Develop staffed, volunteers and community relations to help move the Macomb Y and its mission forward. Grew advisory board from 5 passive members to 13 engaged members.Responsible for $1.5 million operation.Lead a successful capital campaign to renovate lobby to be more welcoming to community as well as efficient for staff.Created a culture that lead to top association ranking for member and staff satisfaction based on SEER Analytics annual surveys as well as top marks for day camp satisfaction results.
