I'm currently completing my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Canterbury. In my research, I have developed a system to automate the process of surveying overhead powerlines using a vehicle-mounted LIDAR. During the first year of my PhD, I worked as a software developer for Australasia's biggest e-commerce platform provider. More recently I have worked as a Research Engineer in the Spatial Engineering Research Centre. It is in this role where I built and flew an unmanned aerial test platform for testing a prototype snow radar in Antarctica. I also had the chance to supervise students and interns on a wide array of projects from pest and wildlife tracking to the development of a system for automated high altitude volcanic ash sampling.
