As a former Division 1 college baseball player at Northern Illinois University, the pressure that I thought I handled so well prior to college, caused me to fold and crumble at a now higher level. After developing the “Yips” my Freshman year at NIU in baseball, I lost the part of me (baseball) that always gave me the confidence to be myself. After that experience, and coming out on the other side, my goal is to change the narrative on the mental side of life and sports, to make the discussion about mental health, especially in athletes, more authentic, and positively impact as many people as possible, the same way that my coaches and teachers did for me. We all go through the same struggles as human beings, so why don’t we talk about it more? I’m here to change that. Current High School Special Education Teacher, Dean of Students, and Baseball Coach at Lincoln Way Central High School. Former High School Football Assistant Coach. Currently studying at Northern Illinois University to attain my Masters Degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
