The role includes, but is not limited to; delivering training in classroom and practical settings, supervising route learning, delivering safety briefs and refresher training. I particularly enjoy helping others learn and hope to pass on my skills and experience to the next generation of Train Drivers.

Since achieving a major career goal by qualifying as a train driver in February 2021, I have been enjoying every moment of my work. My role maintains the same variety I enjoyed as a Senior Conductor but now involves a more technical challenge, specifically the task of safely driving the train. This varies day to day based on factors such as weather, rolling stock/formation and other changing circumstances.

I thoroughly enjoyed my role as Senior Conductor as I had the opportunity to deliver memorable customer service and solve problems for passengers. I was certified in Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Emergency Protection using Track Circuit Operating Clips and Detonators. I utilised my excellent knowledge of railway ticketing and was competent to work class 150, 153, 170 and 172 DMUs. I have in-depth route knowledge including Stratford Upon Avon, all major Birmingham Stations, Worcester and Hereford including intermediate stations, which was very useful when I moved into the role of trainee Driver.

A continuation of my role with London Midland, transferred to Abellio’s West Midlands Trains franchise.

In a voluntary capacity, I helped to organise key events, liaising with the local parliamentary candidate and constituency officers in order to engage young people in the local campaign. During my time as Youth Coordinator for Worcester CLP, I also completed work experience at Labour’s West Midlands regional office, the highlight of which was helping organise a visit and press appearance from a shadow minister for Transport at the time. I also conceived the idea for a prop to be used in the local newspaper photograph and assisted in the design, plus arranged for local residents to appear in the photograph.

I worked as an Apprentice Licensing Officer, issuing and inspecting licenses for individuals and premises under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Town Police Clauses Act 1847. In this role, I covered the county of Worcestershire with a particular focus on the Wyre Forest area. I also worked closely with other agencies, including Environmental Health and Trading Standards departments. My work included a range of licensees, from Taxi Drivers to pubs and clubs, even Adult Shops.
