Completion tool design, testing, failure analysis, and report writing for oil and gas applications. Designed, specified, and built testing facility equipment needed. Utilized welding, and design skills in the building of the testing facility and related equipment. Used knowledge of machine trades, material science, manufacturing techniques, and engineering background, and 3D modeling in the design process of tools. Used knowledge of 3D modeling and FEA to run simulated loads and stresses on designed tools. Used knowledge of drafting to draw detail plans for the manufacture of designed tools. Worked with outside vendors to improve their product, through design collaboration, design suggestions, and testing. Used knowledge of machine trades to relay needed information to vendors, from vendors to design team, and to quickly modify and make parts for testing and field emergencies. Experienced with composite and dissolvable frac plug design and testing. Worked in team to develop flotation subs used in tubular conveyance. Worked closely with vendor of dissolvable material to improve and qualify a dissolvable frac plug for KLX.

Design new down hole completion tooling for O&G applications. Test capabilities of new and existing completion tooling for O&G applications. Answer customer inquiries about capabilities and application of the tool line. Analysis and reporting of customer troubles with the tooling line. Engineering support for the tool line and the on site manufacturing facility.

During this time with Weatherford I had multiple duties. I assisted the engineers with converting their designs to mechanical drawings for the manufacture of prototype components and subsequent manufacture. I provided technical knowledge of manufacturing procedure, techniques and material science. I machined parts, when the vending machine shop could not get them done in time for a test, and samples after testing for inspection. I aided in and eventually took over composite ball testing. Aided in the setup, testing, and analysis of many of the projects our team accomplished. Worked on the designs for a couple of the projects our team completed. Preformed maintenance on testing equipment, machines, metrology, and assembly equipment.

Duties included general manual machining and welding for customers’ requirements; repair of the reciprocating rod pumps, associated jewelry, and tooling; recut rotary shouldered connections and casing threads; making, repairing, or altering wellhead equipment. Secondarily I learned how to teardown, troubleshoot, make suggestions to customers how to improve life expectancy, and repair reciprocating rod pumps. welding; Thirdly I spent time delivering repaired pumps, picking up pulled pumps, and stocking warehouses at the customers various locations.

I was responsible for the setup of a three-axis live tooling cnc lathe. I had to write any new programming at the lathe. I was responsible for the timely and accurate throughput of parts from my machine. I had to meet tolerancing specified by engineering drawings. As parts came off the machine I was responsible for any deburring, etching, and final touches needed before the coating process and assembly.
