The truth of my work history is as follows: I’ve done an excellent job at virtually every place of employment, and I’ve always worked very hard, sometimes to a fault.I learned early not to lie about my skillsets. While living on St. Simon’s Island, GA. I said I knew how to cook somewhat, which was somewhat true. My embellishments landed me a job at Bennie’s Red Barn on St Simons. It was my first kitchen job, and I was working with 7-20 rowdy Georgians who were not afraid to speak their minds; they cursed me out, yelled at me, belittled me and shamed me non-stop for the first 3-4 weeks. I wanted to walk out and quit well over 20 times that first month but I never did. I stuck it out and kept learning more every day. By the time I left, we were good friends, and I’ve stopped by Bennie’s a few times while traveling up or down I-95. Near the FL GA boarder. The times I haven’t done well have been when I was systematically set up for failure—a situation we’re all familiar with. Between those unfortunate circumstances and the occasional psychologically abusive boss or manager, I look back on my various jobs and miss most of them and the people I worked with. Working at the University of Florida for five years was awesome. I worked full-time as a photographer for IFAS, the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, in their news and media relations department. This role had me traveling to every county in FL, taking stock photos of wildlife and landscapes. We photographed scientists finishing their research, and the pictures were submitted to the Associated Press. As a result, I’ve been published in every newspaper in FL, most major papers in the U.S., and even in some English-speaking countries overseas.Every thing I had done lead up to me collecting Signatures for politicians and political organizations in terms of skills being applied. I had to apply every piece of knowledge I’d acquired to excel at that job and it was very tiring. Some days I would speak with over 1000 voters and they weren’t not all friendly. I’m accustomed to challenging personalities and challenging situations. Now as an Uber driver I het chances to practice patience every day I work. It keeps me sharp.
