The Ohio Judicial Conference is the "Voice of Ohio's Judges." As Deputy Legislative Counsel, I serve as the liaison between the Ohio General Assembly and the Judicial Conference's Criminal Law and Procedure Committee, Traffic Law and Procedure Committee, Appellate Law and Procedure Committee, and Magistrates Committee, analyzing pending legislation and conveying the contents of bills to the committees of judges. I regularly attend legislative committee hearings and meet with state lawmakers and other interested parties to address our members' thoughts and concerns on how bills may affect courts, and to recommend legislative change when needed.

As a litigation associate in a consumer-focused law firm, my practice focused primarily in the areas of foreclosure defense and other credit-related matters, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices Act. I represented clients through all stages of the litigation process in both state and federal court, from complaint and answer drafting, all aspects of discovery, including both written and depositions, settlement negotiation, trial, and appeals, including a Petition for Writ of Certiorari in the Supreme Court of the United States.

As a Legal Intern certified by the Supreme Court of Ohio, I served as counsel to three clients involved in pending civil litigation (federal and state court) on claims involving tortious interference with employment, breach of contract, and Consumer Sales Practices Act violations; developed all aspects of litigation strategy with client, supervising attorney, and clinic partner; conducted legal and factual research on issues pertaining to the cases; drafted motions, memos, and correspondence to counsel, clients, and witnesses; attended and participated in case-management conferences; handled all aspects of pre-trial discovery; conducted deposition of adverse witness; represented and counseled client at all stages of the litigation process.

As a legal intern licensed under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711, I served the Torts, Corporate Law & Litigation, and Labor, Policy & Appeals divisions of the law department of the nation’s second-largest public transit system; handled all aspects of arbitration hearings; argued motions in court; researched and drafted motions (to dismiss, for summary judgment, to bar expert witness testimony, to strike portions of pleadings); researched and prepared CTA response to EEOC charge; drafted Settlement Committee Reports to be presented to CTA Board of Directors; researched and drafted legal memoranda for CTA attorneys, General Counsel, and President regarding public bidding requirements, lost wages claims, and legislative history; reviewed plaintiff medical records and prepared abstracts of treater visits.

Managed schedule for member of the Ohio Senate. Maintained outreach with constituents through newsletter publishing, letters and district events. Assisted constituents with issues regarding state agencies. Met with constituents, lobbyists and agency officials on Senator's behalf.
