Provides direct support and subject matter expertise for the execution of Metro’s Safety & Security Certification Program. Responsible for ensuring that design and operating hazards and security vulnerabilities are identified, evaluated, and adequately mitigated before the commencement of service for all required projects throughout the Metro agency. Partners with project management staff and contractors to verify that technical specifications, design criteria, safety and security codes, standards, and industry practices are all adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.•Participates in the design review process for Metro project designs to identify hazards and vulnerabilities that require mitigation.•Verifies that safety and security requirements are identified, incorporated into, and achieved during project design, construction/installation, testing, and start-up through the development of checklists and the conduction of audits and inspections throughout the project lifecycle.•Mitigates potential safety hazards and security issues at the earliest possible phase of the project, with resolutions tracked and documented.•Facilitates the creation of new or necessary changes to existing system safety plans, system security plans, operating and maintenance plans and procedures, rulebooks, and training programs, where appropriate.•Conduct performance monitoring for projects undergoing certification.•Participates in the development and execution of safety activities and initiatives and the implementation of corporate safety practices, policies, and programs.•Communicates and interfaces with various departments within WMATA as well as external oversight agencies including the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Washington Metropolitan Safety Commission (WMSC) on Safety Certification activities.

● Performs technical, industrial, electrical, mechanical, equipment operation, and maintenance work.● Analyzes technical data, designs, or preliminary specifications such as blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, work orders, instructions, formulas, etc.● Maintains physical plant service controls (temperature, pressure, electric, solid state and pneumatic) Fabricates, assembles, or disassembles manufactured products by hand.● Installs electrical fixtures or components, electronic equipment, or systems, electronic power, communication, control, or security equipment.● Acting Supervisor for Crew for a 6-month period and anytime Supervisor was out of office.

● Observed physical plant general equipment and systems in operation to detect potential failures or locate causes of malfunctions.● Performed preventative, scheduled, unscheduled or corrective maintenance, troubleshoots and tested physical plant equipment systems, subsystems, and components using precision measuring equipment such as multimeters and amp probes to test defective electrical control circuits; transits, flow meters, pressure gauges, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, pneumatic control testers, thermometers, pilot gauges, and air velocity indicators to inspect, test, and repair mechanical components and systems; and other instruments and tools as required.

● Performed routine scheduled maintenance and repairs on companies manufacturing equipment and tooling.● Maintained and repaired Adept 500 pick and place robots, various motion and industrial controls on forming machines, Boy injection molding machines, Kilns, Furnaces, and Machine shop equipment.● Made tooling when required for machinery using lathes, vertical mills, and welders.

● Supervised and Lead Shift Technicians and individual teams on a regular basis.● Always worked in a safe manner, consistently following BP's strict safety policies including Permit to work and Lockout/Tag-out procedures, and proper use of PPE.● Repaired machine systems and subsystems to find root cause analysis of each discrepancy from basic mechanical problems, PLC faults, to major mechanical failures and high voltage electrical issues.● Documented all work performed and communicated any out of scope work to management and engineering.
