Managing Director
Head Of Learning And Development
Interim Head Of Learning And Development
In this role I was the Interim head of department responsible for the learning and development team and the subsequent delivery of all education within the department. I was the named head of centre and responsible person for multiple awarding organisations and was ultimately accountable for the internal quality assurance process alongside the lead IQA. Within this role I worked alongside the lead IQA to ensure all learner evidence was ready to be submitted to the awarding organisations and I was also accountable to the external quality assurer and responsible for any actions that came from external quality assurance visits. I worked alongside and managed the resourcing manager to create a training plan inclusive of both the needs of the operational ambulance service and also created gaps in order to run commercial training in order to generate an income. This role required a keen eye on regulatory compliance and also the running of both a commercial training department but also an ambulance service education department. Other parts to this role included the management of the NQP process from induction through to final sign off and also providing any other classroom or operational based support to frontline ambulance clinicians and trainees.
Academy Team Educator
In this role I was responsible for the development and delivery of all qualifications within the learning and development department. My primary responsibility was the delivery of regulated ambulance service qualifications from various awarding organisations in line with national standards and regulations. In this role I was expected to develop courses from concept to delivery using the qualification specification to create the content and develop the courses and accompanying assessments. I was also responsible for the creation and delivery of the annual statutory and mandatory training programme and associated clinical updates for operational clinicians.
Paramedic
In this role I worked on an NHS front line Emergency Ambulance providing emergency and life saving care to the general public who call 999 within the West Midlands. I was often the lead clinician on our vehicle as a Paramedic and often work with both Technicians and Student Paramedics. I utilised my blue light driving qualification driving under emergency conditions between emergency calls. I was responsible for controlled drugs in my possession while on shift and I was required to maintain accurate documentation surrounding the transit and administration of said drugs. Within this role I was required to communicate effectively and clearly passing information regarding the condition of patients’ to doctors and nurses at the hospital over the phone and in the form of a clinical handover.
Student Paramedic
In this role I worked on a front line NHS Emergency Ambulance often with a Paramedic and occasionally another Technician providing emergency and life saving care to the general public who called 999 within the West Midlands. I was working to develop myself and complete a portfolio of evidence to attain the rank of Technician in order to work towards my place on a University course to become a Paramedic. I was responsible for assisting the Paramedic where required and utilising my emergency driving qualification when driving between calls.
Call Assessor
In this role I handled incoming 999 calls from members of the public for the Ambulance service. My primary responsibilities were to calm and reassure the caller whilst guiding them through a triage framework in order to get the most appropriate response for the patient. As an Emergency Ambulance wasn't always the most appropriate response another part of my role was to negotiate with callers to advise on other more appropriate dispositions such as contacting the 11 service or the patient’s own GP or where there is the means to self convey to hospital. I also had to deal with emotional and abusive callers as part of my role, here I had to use the skills I had learned to calm and reassure callers that the triage was a process of ruling out life threatening conditions. I also had to guide members of the public through vital and life saving skills such as CPR and how to put the patient into the recovery position.
Community First Responder
Community First Responder
Here my role was working within the Alton Towers Resort providing onsite medical cover whilst utilising my FPOS Qualification and attending 999 emergency calls both on and off the resort. I responded to calls both within the community on behalf of the West Midlands Ambulance Service and also onsite in the capacity of a first aider providing emergency first aid and also advice both on the theme park and in the on-site medical centre. Within this role the effectiveness to communicate and work as part of a wider team is essential. Quick thinking and the ability to make decisions when in high pressure situations was also an important part of my role. Parts of the role also involved working on my own where I had to use my initiative to make decisions with the patients best interests at the forefront.
Alton Towers Waterpark Supervisor
I worked within this role throughout the summer into early 2015, leading the team of both lifeguards and receptionists and liaising between the team and the managers. I carried out a range of management duties within the role such as complaint solving, organising the the day, working on reception, solving any last minute staffing issues and the cashing up of tills at the end of the day.
Alton Towers Waterpark Lifeguard
I worked as part of a close team of Lifeguards and Supervisors to deliver a high quality service to the general public. We oversaw the day to day running of one of the UK’s leading aqua parks and enforce pool rules where necessary. On an average day I operated rides and flumes, attended to first aid calls and dealt with confrontation and complaints as and when required.
Sales Negotiator
Initially I shadowed the work of a Valuer and Surveyor and travelled to different properties compiling the details for sales. After my first week I was attending appointments with clients on my own and photographing properties, writing descriptions and pro-cessing sets of details ready for the properties to be sold. When in the office I was liaising with vendors and potential buyers to book viewings and assist in sales negotiations. I also worked closely with members of the office staff to place adverts in the local papers and on property websites. Other work included the organising of property keys and ensuring all keys were kept secure and were signed for upon exit from the office.
