I am a final-year Biotechnology student at The University of Manchester, with a strong interest in diagnostics research and development, particularly of microbial pathogens. I recently completed a research placement at The Pirbright Institute, where I worked on viral pathogen diagnostics development and evaluation, further fueling my passion for the field and inspiring me to explore its many opportunities. In addition, I have completed summer internships in diagnostic and pathology labs, gaining hands-on experience in pathogen testing for hospital patients and also patient histopathology. My skill sets range from next-generation sequencing (Oxford Nanopore) to Sanger sequencing and alaysis, various established molecular biology techniques such as plasmid prep, cloning, PCR, reverse genetics, and also basic histology, allowing me to contribute effectively to both research and applied diagnostics.
