About Josh Phillips
As the Lead DevOps Engineer at Brivo, I manage the development experience and platform engineering team, and I am responsible for implementing and managing the DevOps strategy, tools, and processes across the organization. I was also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where I taught the first DevOps course for master's candidates in the technical project management program. My mission is to empower developers and engineers to build scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions that meet the needs and expectations of users and stakeholdersIn my current role at Brivo, I have directed agile project management for the DevOps teams, facilitated agile ceremonies, and managed DevOps collaboration with the security team to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC2 standards. I have also mentored team members, hired and trained new engineers, and established team norms and best practices. Some of the key projects and achievements that I have contributed to include: migrating Brivo's legacy applications to AWS using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm Charts; implementing continuous integration and delivery pipelines using Jenkins, flux, and bitbucket pipelines; and integrating machine learning models and frameworks into Brivo's cloud architecture using Python and Golang. Through these initiatives, I have improved the quality, efficiency, and security of Brivo's software development lifecycle, and enabled the delivery of innovative and customer-centric solutions.
