I found a passion for teaching at a young age. Thus, I decided to make it a reality and currently tutoring 3 tutees who are aged between 10 and 15. From this, I gained life skills like critical thinking and time management, and even made this a side hustle at 17. Passion was the key factor that made me choose this as my work first experience. I was always thrilled to teach my peers Mathematics in Secondary School, and I knew I had a different way of thinking compared to them. I could think outside the box for the subject and develop my methodology to solve unforeseen problem-solving questions. I never had any work experience before unlike my friends, who were working in common part-time jobs like banquet, retail, service crew, flyer distribution, etc. I asked myself, what if I could do something I was passionate about and make more by the hour? That was when I found my 3 tutees that needed help in Mathematics. I developed patience and empathy as I had to go through different ways of teaching them Mathematics. In addition, critical thinking was the life skill that I most practiced when tutoring. I did not only teach them Mathematics, I taught them ways to develop their methodology to solve unforeseen questions. Students didn't need to follow their teacher's way of solving questions, they should come up with their way of solving them as they know themselves best. That was what I helped with, as I gave advice and my perspective when solving questions with them which they can adapt to if they can relate.I was making a comfortable amount every month. I learned the responsibility of money and how to be frugal. Moreover, my time management improved exponentially. I could juggle 5+ hours of weekly tutoring, my studies, and other work like programming. These are important in developing myself into a young adult.
