Joshua J. Daspit, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Management and the Dean Paul R. Gowens Excellence Professor in Business at Texas State University. His research is in the field of entrepreneurship where he studies family businesses, minority businesses, and small and medium-sized enterprises. At Texas State, he is the Director of the SCALEUP program, which is a university-wide initiative to increase the growth of minority businesses.He has over 40 articles published in outlets such as California Management Review, Corporate Governance, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Business Research, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.Dr. Daspit serves as an Associate Editor for Family Business Review and for Journal of Family Business Strategy. He also serves as the Social Media Editor of Family Business Review and is on the editorial review boards of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Journal of Family Business Management, and other journals.He has been recognized as a Family Owned Business Institute Research Scholar, and in 2020, he was recognized as the Best Advisor internationally for the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization along with co-advisor, Dr. Corey Fox. In 2021, Dr. Daspit was honored with a Presidential Award for Excellence at Texas State University. Also in 2021, he was recognized as one of the "Top 40 Under 40" LGBT leaders in the United States and Canada.Before joining academia, Dr. Daspit worked as a senior consultant for an international consulting firm and served as Director of Community Affairs for a member of the United States Congress.
