My interest in IT started when I was in middle school. The idea of working with computer hardware and software was very interesting to me. My interest grew bigger once I reached high school as I was able to take courses such as Electronics and Programming. I was in the 10th grade when I took my very first Computer Science class wherein I learned how to code using HTML and created my very first web page. I went to Red River College to pursue my goal of getting into the IT industry. Through their Business Information Technology program, I was able to further my knowledge by learning both front-end and back-end programming languages. I was also able to learn Networking, Database Management and Server Administration. With their Co-op work term, I was able to get an IT Analyst position at Informanix Technology Group.At Informanix I was able to experience what it takes to be in the IT industry. I had the opportunity to work on a variety of IT related problems such as hardware and software problems and network issues. Informanix has also taught me how to work on different servers, Microsoft O365 and Microsoft Azure. My Co-op work term was valuable as I was able to gain firsthand experience working with different people, companies, and it really assessed my knowledge in the field.Along with my experiences with different programming languages such as HTML, PHP, Java, and C#, as well as Networking, Database and Server Admin; Red River College has also taught me non-technical skills. Every term I was able to learn and practice non-technical skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem solving and teamwork skills that are particularly useful in the field of IT.
