I started with INDYCAR as an extern for a class at IUPUI. I wrote a few articles as an extern. When the externship was over, I was kept on as a freelancer for the Month of May. I went on to write a few stories for INDYCAR in May and June of 2019.

Indianapolis, Indiana Area

This was a job associated with my time as an IUPUI Sports Capital Journalism student. As a Sports Clerk, I was either working at a game or in the office. When in the office, I answered phone calls and emails from coaches, athletic directors, and tournament directors with scores from events. These were compiled and add to our scorecard for the next day's edition as well as online postings. At a game, I was often recording video highlights to be used to make a highlight package of the game. I posted these videos to Twitter and editors back in the office would pull them off to make the videos. I also would assist in the collection of basketball box scores when possible for the games I attended. I wrote select game summaries and stories.

As a student in the Sports Capital Journalism Program, I had the opportunity to cover and write stories for the program's website. These events included the 2018 Indianapolis 500, the College Basketball Symposium, and the 2019 College Football Playoffs National Championship game.

Kokomo, Indiana Area

I was hired at Kroger as a courtesy clerk (bagger) but was quickly trained to run a cash register. Shortly after that, I was trained to be a Front End Supervisor. As one of the Front End Supervisors, it was my job to manage breaks for the front end and fuel center, courtesy clerk job assignments, and small issues not requiring a Store Manager.

Kokomo, Indiana Area

When I was deciding whether or not to pursue a career in sports journalism, I job shadowed at the Kokomo Tribune. I liked it and was eventually asked to cover a sectional football game. That would be the first of eight stories I would write for the Kokomo Tribune. This opportunity was my introduction to sports journalism.

As an intern at the Howard County Historical Society, my tasks included assembling displays for exhibits, researching information on internal databases, books in the society's library, and the internet, and cataloging new donated pieces into the internal database.
