The components division of Intermountain provides products for the capital equipment side of the business. As a research and development engineer, I was responsible for developing these components. My responsibilities went beyond merely designing a product, I was also responsible for negotiating pricing with vendors, maintaining product bills of material, as well as working with the production manager to make sure that products were being built as efficiently as possible.- Developed a 27kV vacuum circuit breaker with integrated visual disconnect. This product allows workers to visually confirm that the high voltage section of a power center or piece of switch gear is grounded, rendering the equipment safe to work on.- Developed a Live Line Indicator that lets workers know that there is voltage present on a piece of equipment and that care should be taken while working on that equipment.- Developed a "draw out" style ground monitor. This product utilizes the well known continuity type ground monitor already in use in many mines across the country and allows workers to remove and replace the component without having to get inside the high voltage equipment. This provides a safer and more cost effective way to replace the component. -
