LAWS260 'Human Rights, Policy and the Law': This unit explores the dynamic area of public policy development in relation to human rights and the law in Australia. It examines how human rights values and rights-based discourses inform the interaction of law and policy in the regulation of individuals' behaviour and the protection of individual rights. Topics covered include: theoretical understandings of human rights, sex and sexuality rights, privacy rights and refugee and asylum seeker rights.

Assisting with research and consultations regarding the "Strengthening Australian university responses to sexual assault and harassment" Project, in collaboration with the Australian Human Rights Commission.I was a chief report consultant for the 'Local Perspectives: A case study on responses to sexual violence in a university setting', which is attached below.

Within this role, I work in close proximity with the Policy and Practice team in, primarily, developing policy submissions to deliver to government on behalf of the Law Society of NSW. My other roles and duties include: • Working in close proximity with relevant Committees, such as the Human Rights Committee and the Juvenile Justice Committee, on relevant legal developments;• Developing comprehensive reports of government legislation and proposed Bills in relation to the Law Society's position. For example, I conducted an extensive overview of the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2015 and the legal impacts that these amendments would have on children in relation to threshold age being lowered to fourteen for control orders. This report was delivered to the Juvenile Justice Committee;• Briefing the CEO on a range of daily matters; • Enhancing my general legal and policy related skills by conducting a broad range of activities.
