As a deputy press secretary to Gov. Rick Perry, I communicated and represented the vision, position and opinion of the governor to the public and news media, using both traditional methods and social media. I engaged with the news media daily, and developed and edited press releases, speeches and media advisories regularly.

As a policy advisor to the governor on homeland security and emergency management issues, I served as a liaison between the governor and the Texas Legislature and outside state agencies on matters of homeland security, border security and disaster response. As the governor's travel aide, I staffed all state and political events with the governor and managed the day-to-day execution of his schedule. I was responsible for deciding which items were most appropriate for the allocation of the Governor’s time based on the requirements of the office and managed the internal and external information flow to and from the Governor.

Managed the political advance team for Governor Perry during the 2006 gubernatorial election. Served as the Governor’s on-site coordinator for all campaign events, rallies and speeches; making all decisions regarding logistics for the event. After the election, oversaw the inaugural committee advance team, and coordinated all inaugural day movements of Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
