Buddies in Bad Times Theatre has granted me access as a creator to manage my own productions, and with this opportunity they have facilitated my growth as a queer performer. My first affiliation with Buddies was in April of 2013 when I was accepted in an annual production called PrideCab. I worked with Jonathan Seinen, Chy Ryan Spain, and Alisha Stranges. Between April and June of 2013 I created two short performances for the stage-I produced a short film with my colleague/filmmaker Monica Garrido; the other performance was a spoken word, which was directed by Alisha Stranges.I took a 1-year hiatus from Buddies in Bad Times Theatre to venture out toward other opportunities within the queer community. In doing so, I worked with numerous establishments such as Glad Day Bookshop and esteemed theatrical artists like Katie Sly, Sunny Drake, Ryan Graham Hinds, Sina Gilani, and Sky Gilbert. I performed in an improv show called Kitchen Party Nervous Breakdown- directed and produced by Sky Gilbert and Sunny Drake- in the summer of 2015.I mounted my first play for the 2016 Rhubarb Festival titled MAX-starring Greg Campbell along with myself. Alistair Newton was my director.

I worked for an External Relations director from the Lassonde Engineering School at York University to create designs for an event. The designs were part of a gift for said event. I illustrated 5 postcard designs (illustrations here: www.joshuamiddleton.ca) and a graphic for a box that contained the postcards.

As an employee of Aroma with a background in performance arts, I had an inclination to produce the first open mic show. The production was successful in reinforcing the Annex with an additional cultural event to attend. The event was called 'A Finer Blend of Soul' which featured performers indiscriminant of their talents and abilities. I was both the host and performer, and curated the production solely around on poetry, dance and music.
