Founded, seed-funded and boot-strapped company to successful sale to Pearson, the largest EdTech company in the world, with 30,000 employees. Spotlight provides mass-personalized infographic and video reports on educational data for students, parents, teachers and school administrators. Built a proprietary AWS Platform as a Service to create millions of personalized videos for multiple B2B customers.

Founder and former CEO of the leading Technology and Business Services provider to charter schools in the country. Serves 500 clients in four states.

Founded company to provide complete outsourced financial, technology and consulting services to K-12 Charter Schools (public schools managed by independent non-profits). • Essentially, we act as the CFO and technology office for charter schools, providing SIS/SAS systems, budgeting, accounting, audits, payroll, a/p, a/r, financial reporting.• Staff of 35, including top MBAs, JDs, and CPAs. Approximately 500 active client schools.• EdTec is a Social Venture: Its mission is to help reform the public school system while providing an appropriate financial return to owners and staff.

Leading e-tailer of pet food and supplies, with 7,000 products, 130,000 sq. ft distribution center and 300 employees. (First to enter the space.)• Built company from start-up to $1.4M in monthly revenue, 220,000 customers and 2.2 million unique monthly visitors.• Raised $100M in cash and in-kind commitments from Battery Ventures, Advanced Technology Ventures, Discovery Communications, and Safeway.• Sold company to Discovery Communications (Animal Planet) for $80M prior to dot.com meltdown. (Discovery later sold the company to Pets.com.)

(Electric Vehicle and other high-tech automotive products.) Joined start-up as first executive employee. Led NASDAQ IPO. Renamed to GenTherm, which has a $2BB+ market cap.• Developed electric vehicle approved for sale in India. (Currently in production.)• Developed a voice-recognition car navigation system sold as OEM equipment by four Japanese consumer electronics companies. • Raised $40M in three rounds of equity, including an IPO, a private placement and a secondary public offering. Responsible for Investor Relations.• Won $10M in government grants for funded Research & Development.

After graduating from the Harvard Business School, I joined BCG as a consultant. (I had worked there during my summer in business school.)• Worked and led teams on 15 client consulting assignments.• Promoted to Qualified Case Team Leader.

The Committee was responsible for developing and reviewing policy legislation designed to enhance California's leading tech industries. (For example, we worked on computers in schools, solar power tax initiatives, biotechnology regulations, engineering education, enterprise zones, and the like.)• Started work in the Legislature initially as an Assembly Fellow.
