My role as a Remote Sensing Scientist involved identifying seabirds and marine mammals from aerial digital photography. The aerial surveys conducted over pre- and post-construction offshore wind farms contributed towards identifying the risks posed to these populations. I worked on various stages of offshore wind farm developments (London Array, East Anglia, Hornsea, Pentland Firth, Gwynt Y Mor and more), developing a keen eye for detail. My contribution to Quality Assurance ensured the robustness of the data produced.I assisted in writing monthly reports by producing graphs and manipulating data, and wrote Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for QA methodology in order to gain UKAS Accreditation. I also gained experience with utilising GIS to digitise and georeference data and imagery.

Dorset

A fieldwork-centric role which involved numerous surveys across the UK (marine, freshwater and estuarine). Utilising several different fieldwork techniques such as walkover surveys, intertidal fish surveys, entrainment monitoring, and fish rescue/relocation.

A three month full-time voluntary placement. My time was split between intertidal biotope mapping along the Jurassic Coast and subsequent GIS digitisation, and raising public awareness of marine issues at Kimmeridge.
