My role as a Remote Sensing Scientist involved identifying seabirds and marine mammals from aerial digital photography. The aerial surveys conducted over pre- and post-construction offshore wind farms contributed towards identifying the risks posed to these populations. A fieldwork-centric role which involved numerous surveys across the UK (marine, freshwater and estuarine). Utilising several different fieldwork techniques such as walkover surveys, intertidal fish surveys, entrainment monitoring, and fish rescue/relocation.

A three month full-time voluntary placement. My time was split between intertidal biotope mapping along the Jurassic Coast and subsequent GIS digitisation, and raising public awareness of marine issues at Kimmeridge.
