I spearheaded the company’s external crisis response during a scientific misconduct scandal and proxy fight with activist shareholders. I crafted messaging to investors, clinical investigators, patient advocacy groups, and the public to overcome scientific credibility challenges and restore confidence. I also contributed to the success of Athira's $104 million follow-on offering by creating corporate presentations and orchestrating presentations at investor conferences, among other activities.

I joined what was then known as M3 Biotechnology as employee #3. I was responsible for business development, corporate communications, and investor relations – as well as any other work that needed to be done at this start-up. During this period, the company’s value grew from $50 to $670 million. I contributed to this 13x increase in valuation by helping to raise the money we needed to advance our lead asset from preclinical development through Phase 1 trials. Our clinical development success set the stage for our IPO in 2020. In all, I helped raise more than $300 million, tapping grant funding, venture funding, and eventually major biotech investors.

I advised portfolio companies and sourced, evaluated, and negotiated new deals. During my tenure, we closed 10 investments totaling $4 million which have returned millions to date. I also catalyzed $1.5 million investment in portfolio companies by creating a new angel investment group and increasing external awareness of Washington start-ups.
