About Joshua Rodda
๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ. ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก.I trained as a historian, specialising in the religious and cultural history of England in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. I gained my PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2012, and my monograph, 'Public Religious Disputation in England, 1558-1626' was published in September 2014 with Ashgate, in the St Andrews Studies in Reformation History series. From 2018 into 2019, I held the Rhinehart Postdoctoral Fellowship in British History at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Having gained experience with academic research, HE teaching, and student support, I am now applying my skills and qualifications to library and information work, with a focus on Higher Education, information literacy and student engagement with research and historical collections. My past research interests have covered truth, belief, and literature in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, including religious dialogue in post-Reformation England, the equivocation controversy, and attitudes toward cultural diversity. Many of the themes I have studied persist in modern conversations around the subjectivity of truth, pluralism and diversity, education, culture, and community, and they continue to inform my professional aspirations and practice.I am a member of CILIP, and currently serving on the Information Literacy Group's New Professionals Sub-Committee. In this capacity, I am one of the organisers and hosts of the Chatting Info Lit podcast. I also hold Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. I have been - and remain - particularly interested in the student experience, the transition from (especially state) schools into Higher Education, and how best to connect students from all social and economic backgrounds with academic, library, and historical resources.
